IBS as it relates to FODMAP’s, Gluten, and Rifaximin

Today we are discussing IBS as it relates to foods that may provoke an IBS patient’s symptoms as well as an antibiotic that is showing promise in helping some IBS patients.   FODMAP’s are foods that contain certain carbohydrate structures that can attract water into the gastrointestinal tract as well as feeding bacteria in the gut which can produce excessive gas.  In addition, today we will discuss the infamous gluten as it relates to gastrointestinal problems such as IBS as well as the widespread manifestations of gluten, and lastly, we will also discuss how Rifaximin, a locally acting antibiotic, can restore normalcy to the bowel health of an IBS patient.
